DUTTA DAVJEKAR , A legendary musician with great talent and brilliance in composing music which touched our hearts. Thought to be a ‘technocrat extraordinaire’. His simplicity and humble nature shone in his music . The whole of Maharashtra and India knows about his music and his contribution.
For me he was my dearest Sangeetkar, a Guide and Guru. He was one of the most kindest human being I ever seen in this music industry.
I was one of the lucky one who got introduced to DD through my dearest friend Late Shantaram Nandgaonkar . DD gave me immense love and affection.
D D was a born musician. His interest in Music and electronics was from his childhood. 1st November 2016 : Marathi Maha guru Pt.Yeshwant Deo lovingly called Nanasaheb, complete 90 years of a very successful and memorable musical life. Couple of weeks ago I visited him at his Shivaji Park residence. Normally , he had restricted meeting visitors and his Fans but when he came to know I was at the door without any prior appointment he still came out and hugged me with a smiling face, as always.
I remember the music release event of my Marathi CD ( released by T-series” Swapna Madhil Rani” when both Nanasaheb and Karunatai were the chief guest. He not only released my CD but sat through the show listening to me presenting various genre of music especially Ghazals. Continue reading “Pt. YESHWANT DEO……..Happy Birthday”

Remembrance Jagjit Singh

Jagjit Singh
Today 10th October 2016. …5th dEATH Anniversary of Legendary Shehenshaye Ghazal JAGJITSIGH-Ji BUT I simply can not forget the day 24th September 2011…….

I remember 24th September 2011, a morning meeting with Indian Ambassador in Kuwait with renown Ghazal Singer and friend Shri Pankaj Udhas and my local friend Reaven Dsouza of TIMES KUWAIT

It was a courtesy call by an Artist who was performing on the same evening for Kuwait Ghazal Lovers. This was a routine practice set by our “SURTRISHNA” musical group, while I was in Kuwait as a Regional Manager for AIRINDIA in Kuwait.

In our mid discussion Pankaj bhai, gets a call from his wife to say… ” Jagjit bhai is no more..” He took me aside and gave me this news..shocking and painful… he too did not know how to react and what to do…? but again he got a call informing him that he (Jagjit bhai) was in coma but in critical condition.

We decided to give this sad news to ” His Excellancy” and our intention to cancel the evening show but Hon. Ambassador advised us not to and to go ahead with the event as a Tribute to this Great Maestro and Pankaj bhai performed with a heavy heart that evening.

Today I go back to my association with this kind hearted, humble, Gentleman…yes, truly a gentleman with melodious voice and simplicity. When i met him the first time, he did not show any attitude but spoke to me very kindly as if I was his old pal. There after we met number of time and off course at the airport, while he was travelling. He somehow came to know my interest in music and asked me and was very happy to know my favourite Singer was Great Talat Mehmood Sahab. He was wondering how one can be so much in love with this genre, as he too had started singing Talat sahab nostalgic Ghazals and film songs. He asked me to give him my Talat Sahab ‘s remix song album released by then “Music India”. Continue reading “Remembrance Jagjit Singh”

ARUN PAUDWAL
Meeting my dearest friend ARUN PAUDWAL was accidental. We were both were studying in Siddharth College, Mumbai. I had my own group of friends from the Science fraternity who were my great supporters while he was in Arts. It was an annual yearly function, where I had participated with my group of musicians, while Arun was with the other competitive group. I had heard lots about him and was hoping and praying that he joins me/us.
Surprisingly, during one of our rehearsals, I saw a very handsome guy with a handkerchief on his collar approach me and said, “Are you Paresh ?” I said ‘Yes’. He without any hesitation told me he was very much impressed with my conduction of the Orchestra and that he wanted to join my group…! Continue reading “Arun Paudwal,Me And My Musician Friends”

…Close To My Heart

This may be surprising for all my family and friends to see that I have changed my profile from Ex Air India executive to SINGER/MUSICIAN. Friends who know me from my early days of childhood, certainly will be happy to see that I am back to my original identity as music lover and a passionate singer.

You may know that this was due to my dear father who was an excellent percussionist and stage Singer. He was a part of one of the leading Hindi Drama companies in Mumbai. He nurtured his passion throughout his life. When he was transferred to Dohad Western Railways foundry factory, he continued his tabla, accompanying several leading singers from Gujarat and Maharashtra. After his retirement, he settled in Mumbai and made me attend various concerts featuring legendary singers and musicians to develop my interest in Classical Singing and its importance.
